The Bergenfield Police Department reminds all property owners with alarms for businesses or homes that the alarms must be registered each year with the department. The alarms include those such as burglar, panic and fire alarms, but do not include battery operated smoke detector.

The registration must be renewed during the month of January. Existing alarm permits will expire on Jan. 31. In addition to renewing registrations, property owners are also reminded to register alarms that have not previously been registered with the department.

The fee to register the alarm is $25. Registration forms can be picked up at police headquarters at 198 N. Washington Avenue or by sending an email to .

All checks are to be made payable to the Borough of Bergenfield.
