Corps Security has incorporated the latest ADPRO by Xtralis video and audio transmitter/recorder technology into its state-of-the-art Corps Monitoring Centre (CMC) in Glasgow. Brian Sims reports.

The move further enhances the long-standing relationship between the two organisations, and allows Corps Security to provide a service that detects, assesses and responds to threats quickly with minimal false alarms.

The ADPRO FastTrace 2 video and audio transmission, recording and analysis system boasts optional analytics for both IP and analogue video remote monitoring applications. This is perfectly suited to the Glasgow-based Corps Monitoring Centre (CMC), which provides third party alarm receiving and CCTV monitoring services to a wide range of customers across many market sectors.

Having been recently developed at a cost of £1.5 million, the CMC is widely acknowledged to be a leading facility of its kind in the UK.

Colin Rogers, global solutions marketing manager at Xtralis, explained: “ADPRO FastTrace is one of the most widely used transmission and recording technologies on the market, and its speed and efficiency provides fast video verification of alarms.”

He continued: “The new, award-winning FastTrace 2 product line takes this proven solution to another level and provides the earliest possible warning of a security threat. This, in turn, minimises the impact to a business and enables the efficient and effective deployment of security personnel.”

What happens in an alarm event?

In an alarm situation, the FastTrace 2 system transmits the video images and audio in real-time to the CMC using the latest broadband technologies (including 3G connections). This offers a substantially lower cost solution when compared to the thousands of ISDN connections still in use today.

Operatives at the CMC are then able to verbally warn an intruder using the FastTrace 2 system’s two-way audio capabilities. Audio warnings have been proven to stop between 80-90% of incidents from turning into more serious crimes.

The Corps Security CMC has used ADPRO perimeter protection and remote monitoring products from Xtralis for over seven years now and its customers from the manufacturing, retail, corporate, financial, utilities, local Government and transport sectors have all benefited.

The new FastTrace 2 can also be linked to a building’s fire detection control panel to additionally provide video verification to operatives at the CMC of a possible fire, where they can also monitor and react to the situation as it happens. This is of particular benefit in unmanned buildings and those where lone workers may be present.

ADPRO iTrace app for the iPhone

The new ADPRO iTrace app for iPhone also allows remote access to the FastTrace 2 live video feeds wherever 3G or Wi-Fi service is available.

Eric Roberts, Corps Security’s CMC business development director, explained: “We have enjoyed a positive and productive relationship with Xtralis and its ADPRO remote monitoring products for many years, and this will only be enhanced by the use of FastTrace 2.”

He explained: “This pioneering technology will help prevent many incidents by providing an early warning of a breach in security, while the ability to provide an audio warning is a highly effective way of complementing the activities of a guarding service.”
