Electrical Fire Extinguisher – Multi-Rated Devices That You Can Fight For Majority of Fire Classes
Looking at how we are living our lives today, we can say that most people are already dependent on using electronic devices. in the morning when you wake up, the first thing that you probably do is turn on your coffee maker and toast your bread. these devices are practically doing your coffee and make your bread crisp in a jiffy. when you make your reports, you will probably spend a lot of time working on your computer. when you want to heat the place up but you do not have a fireplace at home, you will probably be using a portable heater. You see almost all of the electronic devices are very important for us because it is convenient for us. It also allows you to multi-task: wash the dishes while doing the laundry, chat and listen to music while making reports, get ready for work while waiting for the coffee. It has speedup things so that we can optimize our time to do all the things that we want to do in a day.
However, since we are too dependent in using these electrical devices, over usage can lead to a disaster. like humans, they can do so much only. when they get overheated or when they are used improperly it can cause fires at home. when this happens, you can count on it that an electrical fire extinguisher can do the job for you.
The question is, why so specific in the extinguisher.
We have different kinds of extinguishers to use. however, they are built specifically to put out a certain kind of fire. this device has the ability to kill an electric fire by doing it safely. It will not put you at risk for shock while you are fighting fire. they also do not damage the other parts that were not burned and still can be used. these are some of the substances of the devices that you can use for fighting electrical fires:
1.Carbon Dioxide- non flammable and highly pressurize.
2.sodium or potassium bicarbonate – may be corrosive.
3.ammonium phosphate- yellow in color and leaves residue.
What about the one that you have at home will that work?
For you to determine if your device at home is safe to use against electrical fires, all you have to do is to check if it has a class C rating. if it has one on its tank, then it should be good to use for these kind of fire as the letter C stands for it. You might be seeing ABC on it or a BC rating perhaps. You should not be worried about it. It means that you can use this device for a class A and B as well. Most of the time, an electrical fire extinguisher is multi-rated. therefore, it is an advantage on your part.
Note: Class A fires refer to normal combustible items like paper, wood and other solids that can easily burn. on the other hand, Class B fires stands for flammable liquids like oil, grease and petrol.
