Park City Mountain Resort launched the official app for iPhone, iPad and Android this week. the new app can plan custom mountain tours, track run-by-run data and share stats and photos on social media sites. the PCMR app also provides the ability to reload lift tickets directly from a user’s mobile device, enabling users to reload additional days of skiing or riding to their used lift ticket directly from their smartphone or tablet. this function, paired with the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) access gates, provides direct lift access to returning guests and additional time for skiing and riding, rather than waiting in ticket lines. the Park City Mountain Resort app is available now in iTunes and Android Market.
Seth Godin raves on local restaurant
Marketing and Public Relations phenomenon Seth Godin gave a nod to Park City restaurant El Chubasco on his blog last week. Godin, creator of Squidoo, is responsible for popularizing “permission marketing” and has written 11 new York Times bestselling books on his marketing principles.
Godin wrote “One of my favorite restaurants is a little Mexican place in Utah called El Chubasco . I’ve often eaten there twice in a day, and once (it’s true) ate there three times.”
Godin’s real praise of El Chubasco was its simple marketing technique, that the business didn’t get greedy and sacrifice its model for money.
“Usually, when a business like this gets bigger or turns into a chain, marketers make what feel like smart compromises,” Godin wrote. “The MBAs collide with the mystical, and the place gets boring.”
