Landscape Lighting – Uses, Types, and Styles
There are a lot of different choices you can make when choosing your various landscape lighting purchases. One of the things to consider in your lighting research is where exactly you want your source or sources of light to be, and this can be changed through the use of different heights, shapes, and the direction you point the lights to.
One option you can choose is to go with taller fixtures, these can be great because if it’s in your initial design, these lights can throw out a lot of light to surrounding areas and reflect off of a lot of different textures and surfaces. Tall fixtures are often generally preferred over other types and styles for single accent lights and lighting. There are a variety of shapes and sizes, and these can help cast different accents and bends of light and really shape how the general ambiance of the light is perceived.
There are also numerous choices and product types for highlighting different architectural surfaces as well. One of the options you can take advantage of if you choose, is the use of floodlights to direct light upwards at various controllable angles and directions to illuminate a statue or other landmark. they can also be used to highlight landscaping fences and other unique or visually relevant architectural surfaces and structures. if you need to light up some hedges, you can try tier styled lights and then remove the tops which ends up directing the light straight up and down as you see fit. You can also use what are known as well lights which are very low profile and can be used to highlight various garden style structures or even just to highlight a wall or fence.
One of the most frequently used applications of landscape lighting is to help light or accent a walkway, whether it’s in the front yard leading around the house or to the front door, or used as pathways in and around a garden or to a pool or pond area. what I recommend for that is the use of tier lights, they direct light in a downward fashion and as a result minimize glare. this is often the preferred method because you avoid the runway look that you get from using alternate style lights or lighting. as always remember to get a second opinion and bring a friend or relative when shopping.
