RICHMOND — Three Richmond residents were indicted and arrested on drug trafficking charges, following separate undercover investigations by the Richmond Police Department, according to Chief Larry Brock. on Tuesday, Simona Kay Allen, 25, of Westover Avenue, was arrested and charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance. in March, an undercover investigator acquired cocaine from Allen, Brock said, leading to her indictment and the issuance of an arrest warrant earlier this month. Allen is being lodged in the Madison County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond. a Dee Dee Drive woman was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance. Paula Louise Miller, 46, had been indicted in connection to an undercover investigation in September, during which investigators allegedly acquired hydrocodone pills from Miller. Miller, who also was arrested last month for shoplifting, is being held at the Detention Center in lieu of a $5,000 cash bond. Benjamin Gilbert Masters, 24, also of Dee Dee Drive, was arrested at his residence Tuesday and charged with three counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance. RPD conducted an undercover investigation in August and September during which they acquired oxycodone pills from Masters, Brock said. Following the investigation, Masters was indicted by a Madison grand jury and a warrant was issued for his arrest earlier this month. in April, Masters was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance. Masters is being held at the jail on a $5,000 cash bond. Assault on a police officer a McKee man is still in custody on charges of third-degree assault, first-degree fleeing or evading police and resisting arrest after police discovered he had outstanding warrants, while in the process of arresting someone else. Michael D. Gabbard, 38, who allegedly attempted to flee from police, was in company of Taneia M. Gabbard, 35, also of McKee, Friday at Meijer. Taneia Gabbard was recognized by an off-duty officer who knew that she had a warrant for her arrest. She was taken into custody without incident after it was confirmed that she had a bench warrant for failure to pay $243 in fines. When Michael Gabbard realized police knew about his warrants, he allegedly fled and was pursued by an officer to the south side of the store, Brock said. Michael Gabbard allegedly attempted to conceal himself among shopping carts. “When the officer detected his presence and drew her Taser, Michael Gabbard charged the officer and grabbed her hand in an attempt to disarm the officer of the Taser,” he said. although it was disabled during the struggle, the officer maintained control of the Taser. Michael Gabbard then shoved the officer, Brock said, causing her to fall, and attempted to escape by scaling a fence around the garden center at Meijer. Michael Gabbard finally was taken into custody when the officer, with assistance from mall security, pulled him from the fence, police said. Taneia Gabbard was released the same day while Michael Gabbard continues to be lodged at the detention center in lieu of a $5,000 bond. The police officer was treated for minor hand injuries.
