Dogcam Gives Emergency Responders New View
Wood & Douglas, a British firm specilizing in wireless broadcast technology, has developed a camera that allows rescue dogs to relay real-time video and audio back to their handlers. The system is called PAWS which stands for Portable All-terrain Wireless system.
The extremely light camera is secured on top of the dog’s head with a head strap and includes a body harness. if the dog is performing a rescue in a dark spot or at night, the camera automatically switches to an infrared setting.
The wireless broadcast system allows two-way communication between the victim and rescuer and can be encrypted for security purposes.
The company believes the system could help emergency responders keep a safe distance while the dog maneuvers through hard-to-reach areas and relays vital information.
Check out the video demonstrating how the system works.
