Throw Away Your Keys and Say Hello to Keyless Entry

Say good-bye to clunky keychains and hidden emergency keys, with the new electronic deadbolt technology you can open your door with the press of a finger. These slick new units from Schlage are controlled by a keypad that can be automated from a computer or cell phone.

Throw away your keys and unlock your doors by entering a four-digit pass code. “Big deal”, you say – “a key, a pass code, what’s the difference?” Well, it does have its advantages. You can assign each family member a separate code, and then program the device to advise you via cell phone when your kids or spouse gets home. Assign a different number to your babysitter or housekeeper and later review a list of which codes were used to open the house and at which times.

You can also program the system to turn on house lights when the door is unlocked so that you never have to enter a dark house.

An average starter kit is about $299 plus $12.99 per month to communicate signals from the lock to cell phone or computer. This allows you to program up to 30 separate doors.

An alternative to the keypad entry system is the RFID or Radiofrequency ID electronic deadbolt. Simply push a button and wave a special card in front of the door to access entry.

An even higher tech electronic lock is accessed via the occupant’s fingerprint. Not just for ultra-security corporations, these are becoming increasingly popular for residential use. It uses thermal sensors that detect if an actual person is applying the fingerprint. Some models have combination fingerprint and access code features. The Biometric fingerprint lock is the most popular version and identifies a person’s unique fingerprint pattern by using a scanner. This is considered the only true keyless entry door lock.

After speaking to various people who use a Biometric lock, I heard many similar comments. The fingerprint only detects correctly in about one out of four attempts. There also seems to be a problem with the initial registering of the fingerprints, and some people claim they are unable to ever have their fingerprint detected.

What is the method to hide/lock ms-access database to users while data entry is made through fronend screen cr

I have designed data entry sheet in VB6 as font end while storing data in MS-ACCESS data base as backend. At present this data base is open to all users.I want to hide/lock this database to users while keeping data entry is open to all users. in other words nobody can able to copy/delete/update etc. records in the ms-access table.it should be done only through frontend screen. Can I have hide folder where this database is stored

Easy:
Goto TOOLS>>STARTUP
Then click-off “Display Database Window” and Select your entry form from the “Display Form/Page” Drop list
Also, Click off the “Use Access Special Keys” (so they can’t hit F11 and view the DB window.

To by-pass these settings, hold down the SHIFT key.

You could also (just in case someone knows how to by-pass it) Right click the table, Select PROPERTIES, and CLICK-ON “Hidden”.

An added “safety” would be to make the Table(s) links to another DB tucked away where only YOU know. (Then No-one can modify the Table structure from the front-end db EVEN if they By-Pass and UNHIDE).

Lastly, make the Front-end into a REPLICA MASTER
TOOLS>>REPLICATION
Then distribute Replicas to people to keep on thier Desktop. Replicas CANNOT be modified in Design view. Just make sure You have LInked the tables to a network DB, so everyone adds data to the same Tables.
